Lead AI Solutions Engineer

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on technical leader to drive the delivery of reliable, scalable data pipelines and AI-powered workflows at Toloka. As a Team Lead, you’ll combine strong engineering expertise with solution-oriented thinking, guiding a cross-functional team of engineers in building production-grade pipelines using different tools.

You will own solution quality, ensure reusability and observability, contribute to standards, and coach your team through complex, LLM-enhanced workflows.

What You’ll Do:

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of workflow automation and data processing pipelines.
• Mentor and lead engineers and guide solution design, implementation, and review.
• Collaborate with Architects, ML Engineers, QA, and Product Managers.
• Ensure code quality, stability, observability, and documentation.
• Promote reuse of internal libraries, templates, and components.
• Oversee delivery timelines and proactively resolve risks and blockers.

About You:

• At least 2+ years of experience as a people manager, leading software or solutions engineering teams (not just as a tech lead).
• At least 1 prior role as a Software Engineer or Systems/DevOps Engineer, with hands-on experience writing and shipping production code.
• Strong knowledge of Python and system design principles.
• All-around software engineering experience (front-end, back-end, databases, cloud, containerization, DevOps) or product management is a very big plus.
• Experience with ETL/data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Temporal, Airflow).
• Familiar with LLMs, prompt engineering, and basic statistics or data quality concepts.
• Clear communicator with excellent planning abilities, who thrives in cross-functional collaboration.
• Bonus: Passion for — or experience in — building AI agents or agentic workflows, and exploring how LLMs can drive autonomous behavior across systems.
