Job responsibilities

  • Lead and shape the legal strategy for the company, aligning with business goals and growth plans.
  • Manage and develop the legal team, overseeing day-to-day legal affairs, risk management, and compliance programs.
  • Provide strategic legal guidance to senior leadership, including the CFO and other executives, on contracts, regulatory matters, and strategic initiatives.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review complex commercial agreements and partnerships with customers, vendors, and strategic partners.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure regulatory compliance across jurisdictions.
  • Address potential legal issues proactively, conducting risk assessments and advising on mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (product, sales, privacy, security) to support product development and go-to-market activities.
  • Represent the company in external legal matters, including dealing with regulators and outside counsel as needed.

requirements

  • Extensive experience in a senior legal role, preferably as Deputy General Counsel or General Counsel in a technology or fintech environment.
  • Strong background in corporate, commercial, and regulatory law with a track record of handling complex contracts and negotiations.
  • Experience building and leading a legal team and partnering with executives on strategic initiatives.
  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced, global, remote environment with a pragmatic, business-focused approach.
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills, with a sense of humor and resilience.

qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) or equivalent law degree; active bar admission in good standing.
  • Demonstrated success in risk assessment, regulatory compliance, and litigation management as applicable.
  • Experience working with financial services, payroll data, or data access platforms is a plus.
  • Grit, first principles thinking, and a drive to succeed in the face of adversity.
