Data Science Engineer

RemoteFull-timeSeniorWorldDevelopment

We’re one of the world’s leading apps for health monitoring — with 16 million downloads across 130 countries. We bring together biometrics, science, AI, and design to help people better understand their health and overall well-being.

Why this matters:

Our algorithmic competitors are Garmin, Whoop, Apple, Google, and Samsung. But their users come to us — because our algorithms do a better job helping people manage stress, fight fatigue, and take care of their health.

The challenge we’re solving:

  • We’re device agnostic — our algorithms are designed to work equally well on any device.
  • Unlike our competitors, we don’t have access to raw data.
  • That’s why we have to come up with unconventional solutions — and be smart and inventive.

What this role is about:

We’re looking for someone to help adapt our existing algorithms for new platforms and devices. The results of your work will be directly visible to users — in the interface. And that directly impacts how people take care of their health.

What We’re Looking For:

  • You have a strong track record working with human data — ideally in biostatistics or analyzing physiological and behavioral time-series data.
  • You’re confident in Python, familiar with the data science & ML ecosystem, and know how to write clean, maintainable code. You’re not afraid to dive into legacy code, rewrite it from scratch when needed, and back it up with solid tests.
  • You can write algorithmic code and debug implementation inconsistencies — for instance, when the Swift version outputs one distribution and the Kotlin version another, you’ll know how to dig into it and fix it.
  • You're comfortable working across platforms, programming languages, and systems.
  • You’re fluent in AI tools and know how to use different models and solutions to optimize and speed up your work. That’s a must — we work with diverse data and need to build algorithms for various platforms.
  • Your English is good enough to work with documentation and tools in English without issues.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop and test algorithms for analyzing physiological and behavioral data, optimize them for mobile devices, and ensure results display correctly across user types and devices.
  • Ensure stable performance of scientific algorithms across all target platforms and operating systems.
  • Collaborate closely with the Android team to implement core health features and ensure all algorithms perform consistently, regardless of device or user.
  • Contribute to building a device-agnostic foundation — we want our recommendations to work seamlessly on everything from smartphones to wearables.
  • Balance different perspectives — scientific accuracy, data diversity, UX simplicity, and edge cases — and bring them together in practical implementations. Tasks range from handling large streams of biometric readings to building sleep and activity recommendations and personalized insights.
  • Test solutions across diverse user personas to ensure both personalization and scalability.

What We Offer:

  • Flexible hours & a high-trust culture — we care about results, not clock time
  • Competitive salary, performance-based bonuses, and stock options
  • 50% hardware subsidy after 6 months
  • Access to a therapist & employee support program
  • Health insurance
  • Support for personal learning and development
  • Unlimited vacation policy
  • Culture of openness, honesty, and high standards

How to Apply:

Click Apply for this job and send your application.

What happens next:

  • You’ll get an email with a 30‑minute questionnaire to share your contact details, resume link, and experience. We review every application and will get back to you either way.

If we’re a good match, the next steps are:

  • Test assignment
  • Culture Fit interview with HR
  • Technical interview with the hiring manager
